Last Model of 2021 - Veterans Get a Ride

After a very slow stretch of painting, I buckled down over Christmas and painted this Rhino for my veteran tactical squad. It could use a bit more weathering on the metal areas, but I wanted to get it posted and inlcued in my 2021 model count since my output in the second half of the year was so low.

A few interesting runes on the front to show the growing influence of Chaos.

The decal on the back door still needs some work to hide the shiny finish.

I love the Deimos doors with the Eye of Horus imagery.

Is Horus looking for Frodo and the Ring of Power?

Veterans exit from the rear ramp and take up firing positions.

Vetterans exit the Rhino and prepare to engage the enemy.

I decided to just keep it simple with the standard two bolters rather than adding any pintle-mounted weapon. I really like the clean, symetrical and steramlined look of the dual bolters. That means it will obviously never kill anything so it will have the role of a pure transport, providing mobility and some protection. Like the Land Raider, the green areas were all painted with dry brushing only, which makes the painting fairly quick and easy. Green is a pretty forgiving color for dry brushing and looks great with a wide spectrum bewteen deep shade and bright highlight.

That's it for 2021 - now on to the next project in 2022!

  1. Looks cool- simple and symmetrical, like it belongs to professional soldiers who favor getting the job done over adding unnecessary flare. Those points are better spent elsewhere! We don't need no heavy weapons! Hopefully, the squad pouring out can do the job quite effectively on their own.
