It takes me a long time to paint anything, so I figure if I am only going to ever have a limited number of models, then I may as well make the most of what I have by making them as versatile and multi-purpose as possible. So I spent the last few days building and magnetizing these two Sabres with the full spectrum of three main guns (and associated ammo/energy packs on the hull) as well as the four secondary hull-mounted weapons and the optional Sabre missiles. I mounted 22 magnets so far (I don't really see a need to magnetize the ammo boxes since they sit in a nice slot and won't fall off unless tipped), and I only glued one magnet in upside down (requiring some knife work to dig it out and re-set it in the proper orientation).
Legion Sabre Strike Tank Rules
The Sabre is an interesting option. It has slightly worse armor than a Predator and only two main guns instead of three. But it has the Fast special rule, making it more capable of firing effectively while on the move, which means potentially getting a better chance of landing shots on the side armor of enemy vehicles. Most of the gun options seem targeted toward light vehicles and heavy infantry being S6 or S8 and AP4 or AP5.There is one S9 AP2 option but it only gets a single shot so there is the issue of reliably hitting. The other interesting aspect is that all of the guns are 24" range, except for the missiles with 36". This means you will have to use its mobility and speed to get in range, where its light armor is not going to hold up for long. The strange thing is that it comes in units of 1 - 2, whereas most vehicle squadrons can have up to 3. The rules are certainly not overly compelling, but it seems to fit well with the White Scars, being Fast and falling in the Fast Attack slot, because the White Scars' unique Rite of War limits Heavy Support choices.
Here you can see what it looks like as-designed with the rockets on the sides, and how big it is compared to a Land Raider. I did not like the rockets on the side because it would hard to magnetize there and they seemed really fragile and easy to snap off while handling the tank, being right where you grab it and only attached at one point. So I stole the idea from another hobbyist blog to make a quad missile launcher out of them.

Now time to get these guys painted and into a game so we can try out some of the weapon options!
