Sons of Horus Contemptor Dreadnought

I had so much fun building and painting this model. My first-ever dreadnought! And after getting stomped by Pete's Contemptors so many times, I am excited to have one of my own now.

The loadout is a chainfist with in-built heavy flamer (permanently attached) and a magnetized multi-melta on the gun arm so I can swap it out once I get some other weapon options.

Sons of Horus Contemptor Build

I built a nice base for my Sons of Horus Contemptor. I wanted it to be uneven with an opportunity to create a stepping pose to show off how dynamic the model is compared to the plastic kit. Of course, I also wanted it to match with my infantry bases so I made the main area out of the same "grating" material I've used for the rest of the army. The raised area is a piece of the vent cover from our old, dead Xbox 360 that I salvaged when we pitched it a few years ago. There are strips of wooden coffee stirrers under the Xbox piece to give it some height. Then I just added some random odds and ends from the bits box and a few pieces of picture-hanging wire.

Now on to building the excellent and very posable model after the break:

Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought

Now that the Traitors have taken most of the key spaceports of Xhorik and driven the remaining Loyalists into the mountains, fresh supplies and equipment can be brought in to tighten the Warmaster's grip on this key planet. The first unit Preator Wolfgang requested as support for his continued campaign against the White Scars and Kozar Army was a Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought for some much needed anti-aircraft firepower.

This dedicated heavy weapons platform combines superior firepower with the flexibility, mobility and durability of a dreadnought chassis.

Wolfgang's prized new toy comes equipped with an Arachnus Heavy Lascannon Battery, a torso mounted twin-linked heavy bolter, and a carapace-mounted Aiolos Missle Launcher. A Helical Targeting Array gives the Deredeo Skyfire and Interceptor if it neither moves nor runs during its turn.

Creeping Death

The Space Marines of the Red Brotherhood Chapter field five Contemptor Pattern Dreadnoughts that they have maintained, refurbished, and re-piloted over the course of 10,000 years, since the Chapter first formed from the Imperial Fists. What was once twenty after the end of the Horus Heresy, has dwindled down to five, as countless battles and irreparable damage has forced the master techmarines of Carthage to slowly scrap one machine for the continued use of another.
