The Space Marines of the Red Brotherhood Chapter field five Contemptor Pattern Dreadnoughts that they have maintained, refurbished, and re-piloted over the course of 10,000 years, since the Chapter first formed from the Imperial Fists. What was once twenty after the end of the Horus Heresy, has dwindled down to five, as countless battles and irreparable damage has forced the master techmarines of Carthage to slowly scrap one machine for the continued use of another.
Nice work. That is an impressive model. I like the color scheme. Now that I see him next to the regular marines, I see he has the same color scheme. It works well on the big boy and keeps him very well tied-in with the rest of your force.
ReplyDeleteI also can't believe how big he is. Much bigger than the standard dreadnought. The pose is very natural; like he is calmly striding forward, firing his weapons as he moves.
One more thing: What is his name? A warrior of his caliber and stature needs a unique name!
ReplyDeleteI know you thought it was unfortunate that both of our armies were red, but looking at these pictures right next to some pictures of my Orks really highlights how different our colors are. Yours is more of a burgandy or maroon and mine is more of a scarlet. They look different enough that you can easily tell them apart on the battlefield and that is what matters most!
ReplyDeleteHe is a big-un. I do prefer by far his long-legged strides to the stiff, squat shuffle of a typical dreadnought. The sculptor must have shared my sentiment. A great piece, no doubt. And tooled up to slap around anything that may rival it.
